Greddy Profec Spec 2 Manual
Is there anyone out there!!!I am writing this post in the hopes of there being someone out there that either has a profec b-spec 2 electronic boost controller or has tuned one before. I have recently installed mine into my '94 Miata but i have left every vacuum line ran but unconnected. It seems every time I read the included instructions or instructions on the internet I just get a brain fart.
It's just the percentages that throw me off. OK, to get to the point -I am boosting at 7psi and I just want the controller to control just that. Has anyone done this before that has the almost exact specs I need to accomplish this. Please write me back if you have any answers. What exactly are you having trouble with?
I don't own this EBC, but I've read through the instruction manual for it and others, as a buddy of mine and I are developing our own EBC to market and sell (incidentally, ours is going to be as close to set-and-forget as possible, as most of the EBCs out there seem to have too many settings, confusing the average Joe).It appears to work much like any other EBC does, in that you set a boost 'setpoint,' then adjust the gain and 'start boost' settings to give you maximum boost ramping rate while not overshooting your target. Basically the higher the duty cycle and 'start boost' setting, the higher the chances of the solenoid not being able to reign in the boost rise as it gets to the setpoint, likely causing it to overshoot. It's all about finding that happy-medium. Well this is what I actually want to do. I want to run the 7psi that I have been doing daily but I want the full potential of the turbo along with that. I don't want to run anything higher than 7psi right this second because I am afraid of damaging my stock internals in the process. The whole set, gain, and other settings that the manual includes consists of me tuning the boost controller by%.
I don't know what% of anything they are talking about. They do not specify this in the manual. If only someone could break it down to a educated guess on what my settings (all of them;including HI and LO) should be. I just don't want to have to end up tuning it by my self and end up pushing more than 7psi and cause damage!!!! ANYTHING HELPS.

Yeah, just hang on to this EBC for a bit and give it a chance, I'm sure you'll get the hang of it.Basically the% they're referring to is duty cycle of the electrically-actuated solenoid. An 80% duty cycle means it's rapidly turning the solenoid motor on and off, and it's on 80% of the time (just like how fuel injectors work). With the solenoid turned on, power is being sent to it to close a valve that prevents the wastegate signal line from seeing pressure/boost. Today is the day after I was crying like a little girl about not being able to tune my EBC. Last night I finally ran the last of my vacuum hoses and started the tuning process.

I ran it down the feeder road by my house a few times. Super net surveillance dvr to computer. The past 7 months my car has been boosted I thought I have been pushing 7psi. I found out last night that I am boosting at around 7.5psi. Not a lot more but not what I expected. I set the controller to let my boost run the spring minimum (7lbs.). After I tuned it a little I got the hang of it and have obtained some very useful knowledge that will come in handy here in about 2monthsgive or take.
