Says:Hello everyone, I've made a big school boy error today attempting to clean some dust from my 500d mirror and focusing screen. The mirror cleaned fine with a cotton bud and a little lens fluid but the same can not be said about the focusing screen. The net result is now a dust free screen 'great' but the scratches I made wiping it will never be removed:(The camera takes pictures fine as always but looking thought the view finder is just messy!Anyone made the same mistake? And how much did canon charge to replace the focusing screen?Dave11:48AM, 5 January 2013 PSTsays:Rut roh. Most cameras can easily change out the focus screen, but I'm not sure about yours.84 months agosays:Would a focus screen really scratch that easily? I wouldn't have thought so.This may help84 months agosays:The guide says:'You should only attempt to remove dust with a manual airblower, making sure never to touch the screen.'

Hi,I know, it isn't so easy to change the focusing screen on the 5D Mark III but it is not impossible.I consider to use more Zeiss lenses on my camera. The AF confirm is okay, but not as good as I would wish.Since the Brightscreen-owner has passed away, there is no focusing screen for the 5D Mark III anymore, right? KatzEye hasn't got focusing screens for my camera as far as I know. Are there any other companies that offer a focusing screen for the 5D Mark III?Edit: Found something here, do you think this is reliable?Do 5DII screens fit in the 5DIII?Sorry for my bad English5DIII, 7D, Samyang 14 2.8, Canon 17-40 4L, Canon 28 1.8, Zeiss 50 1.4, Canon 85 1.2L II, Canon 100 2.8L, Canon 100-400L 4.5-5.6. andBut at first I need to know if 5D Mark II screens fit into the 5D Mark III?Sorry for my bad English5DIII, 7D, Samyang 14 2.8, Canon 17-40 4L, Canon 28 1.8, Zeiss 50 1.4, Canon 85 1.2L II, Canon 100 2.8L, Canon 100-400L 4.5-5.6. OK, on the 5D there was a clip, popped the clip and the holder came down put the new screen in the pushed up (after removing the old screen). So see if they are the same, you need to go look at canon or say BH sites and check to see what fits what. When I looked, the ones that said 5D2 didn't mention the III version. I'm sure if they fit, they would have mentioned it.If nothing else call canon service in VA and ask them. I'm sure they can help.I'll look a bit tooMark HToo Much Camera Stuff.
